We get it-- decisions can be tough, especially when you’re imagining a custom built hardwood piece of furniture for your home.

So let's break down the 3 finish options you can pick from with details to make it easier!

let's talk about wood types

Because each wood type has its own natural color!

a light beige-tan color

dark walnut hardwood

a rich, chocolate-brown color

We use premium white oak & dark walnut hardwoods to handcraft all our items.

We handpick the wood for each & every order, paying close attention to color consistency & wood grains. The wood starts off rough cut, and then we mill/dimension each board for your custom piece.

Once your order has been built & sanded, it's ready to be finished with a topcoat.

Below we break down the 3 finish options - from keeping the natural wood color, adding a stain or diy-ing the topcoat yourself.

FULLY CUSTOMIZED FOR YOUR ORDER

HARDWOOD FINISH OPTIONS

A clear protective coating that leaves a subtle matte sheen. It provides protection against everyday use/stains while keeping the natural color of the wood type you select.

The poly topcoat is pictured in all of our listing photos, as this is our most popular finish option!

Clear, Matte Poly

A clear protective coating that leaves a subtle matte sheen. It provides protection against everyday use/stains while keeping the natural color of the wood type you select.

The poly topcoat is pictured in all of our listing photos, as this is our most popular finish option!

Rubio Monocoat

Stain + Protection in one coat, Rubio Monocoat is a hardwax oil topcoat with more of a flat finish than our poly option.

Best when you want to change the natural color of the wood type you select. If you're looking to match your existing floor color or another wood tone in your home, Rubio Monocoat will be a good option!

We recommend ordering samples of the Rubio colors you like, to determine the best one for your space/lighting.

Unfinished

For those who want to finish their piece on-site. We will sand the piece for you but leave the wood raw/unfinished.

We recommend all hardwood items be sealed for long term use to protect the wood from everyday wear/tear & ease of cleaning.
