We came up with the concept mid-build. Hutcheson delivered the railings and hardware on time and in good condition. We ran a groove underneath to fit the LV strip lights. Haven't used the canned lights since.

We were nearing the end of a 2 year, major remodel of our home. The custom cabinet builder that had supplied the cabinets for our pantry, kitchen, two islands, and built-ins next to our fireplace, provided a quote for a mantel to match the floating shelves they had already provided.
The price and time required to compete the mantel were both unacceptable. We found Matt on Etsy and contracted him to build the mantel. We also paid a little extra to reduce the wait as the mantel was holding up other trades.
The end result was a mantel that looks like it was made by the same company that made the floating shelves. The quality is top notch, the French cleat mad installation simple, the price was much better, the communication was great, and the product was shipped exactly when it was promised when ordered.
Every aspect of the process was perfect!! If only the balance of our remodel had gone as well…

We ordered two custom white oak mantels from Hutcheson Design Co and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The mantels arrived extremely well packaged, and the quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding. Installation was quick and simple thanks to the included French cleats.
What really set Hutcheson apart was their ability to make both mantels at 90” in length—something we couldn’t find anywhere else, as most vendors cap their sizes at 84”. We’re so glad we found them. Highly recommend for anyone looking for beautiful, custom-length mantels done right.
I order two staircase handrails from Hutcheson. Their website showed some nice images that seemed match what I was looking for, so I placed the order. I communicate with Matt a few times.
