Measure: Determine Length, Depth & Height

How much bigger should a mantle be than the fireplace?

Most people want the mantel to overhang both sides of the firebox. usually 3 - 4 inches on each side of the firebox is standard.

When measuring for the height of the mantel remember to consider decorative items you want to place on the mantel and how it looks overall on the fireplace wall.

Standard Mounting Method:

Installation is easy, using a French Cleat, which is built into the back of the mantel. Your mantel will come with install instructions. You'll only need a few screws, specific to your wall type, for installation (i.e. wood, brick, sheetrock anchors, etc.).
