How to Install Your Fireplace Mantel

Inside the mantel cavity, is an extra French cleat. Mount it to the wall, using the appropriate fasteners for your wall type. Make sure to hang it level, hitting studs, stone or wall anchors.

Next, hang the mantel on the wall cleat. The French cleat installed inside the mantel will lock together with the wall cleat. Slide the mantel left/right as needed to get the desired positioning.
